Home Remedies for Premature Graying of Hair

Graying of hair is part of the aging process. Certain medical conditions can cause premature graying of hair due to lack of pigmentation. A Caucasian developing grey before the age of 20 or an African American developing grey hair before the age of 30 is known as premature graying of hair. With several home remedies for premature graying of hair, this article will help you regain lush growth of black hair.

Premature hair graying is a sign of ageing and is a cosmetic problem many people worry about. Gray hair appears for all at some point of their lives. A Caucasian developing gray before the age of 20 or an African American developing grey hair before the age of 30 is known as premature graying of hair.

Melanocytes are pigment producing cells that provide color to your hair. When melanocytes die, they lose the ability to produce pigment and new hair strands will begin to appear gray.

Reasons for premature Graying of hair:

Genetics plays an important role in determining the ageing process and graying of hair. Here are some common causes of premature hair graying:

-          Problems with pituitary and thyroid gland

-          Vitamin B12 deficiency

-          Autoimmune diseases

Home remedies for premature graying of hair

Amla Remedy: Dry the gooseberries and immerse them in half of a cup of yogurt let it stand for 10 hours. Make it into a paste and apply over the hair and let it stand for 2 hours. Wash away. Hair  will turn black eventually. It is a popular remedy for premature graying of hair.

Curry leaves remedy: Another popular home remedy to prevent premature graying of hair is to boil handful of curry leaves and slices of aloe vera leaf in oil until it turns black. Apply the oil on hair and scalp an hour before bath. Wash away.

Henna for Black hair: Henna is another popular remedy for premature graying of hair. Brew  half  a cup of  black tea. Add to it some henna powder, an egg and few drops of lemon juice to make a thick paste. Apply over the hair and leave for an hour. Wash with a mild shampoo.

Coconut oil wrap: Warm some coconut oil and apply on to hair generously. Massage the scalp for 10 - 15 min. Take a towel dipped in warm water and wrap around the head. Let it stay for about half an hour. Wash the hair with a mild shampoo. Do the coconut oil wrap once or twice a week to prevent premature graying of hair.

Diet: B group vitamins are essential to prevent premature graying of hair. Boost the intake of yeast to produce sufficient quantity of B vitamins in stomach. Copper, iron and iodine must be sufficiently supplied in diet to prevent premature graying of hair.

Avoid hair products, hair styling equipments and chemical treatments that are harsh on hair. A balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables are essential to maintain the hormones in the body.
