Foods and Supplements to Treat Dry Skin

Do you suffer from continual dry skin? Dry skin can be treated and cured through a balanced diet and daily supplements.

Use sunflower seeds, spinach, seafood and beef which are sources of Vitamin E. Vitamin E protects against free radicals

Eat Foods with alpha-hydroxy acids.  Alpha-Hydroxy Acids maintains skin moisture, removes dead skin cells and permits new cells to form and grow. These foods are citrus fruits, milk, tomatoes, blackberries and grapes.

Include Salmon, mackerel and tuna in your life. These contain Omega 3, which are vital to produce healthy skin.


Eliminate Fried Foods, processed foods, and foods with hydrogenated oils.

Avoid drinks with caffeine such as alcohol, sodas, coffee and teas. Caffeine depletes your body of water and fluids. This usually results in dry skin.

Eat less junk foods, chocolates, snacks and potato chips.


Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids is essential in producing collagen. Collagen gives your skin firmness and a smooth texture.

Vitamin E retains the moisture in your skin and promotes the growth of skin cells. It also nourishes and strengthens the skin.

Increase your intake of Vitamin A- Vitamin A protects the skin tissue. A deficiency of Vitamin A causes dry skin.

Use Cod Liver Oil – this reduces the scaly appearance of dry skin and add moisture to your skin.

Take Zinc- Zinc is essential to regulate the amount of oil in your skin. A lack of Zinc leads to dry skin. Foods with zinc include pumpkin seeds, lima beans, sardines, whole grains, mushroom, pecans, eggs and lamb.

Use Flaxseed Oil Supplement.  Studies have shown that flaxseed oil reduces the appearance of dry skin.
